FINDING AND APPLYING FOR JOBS


It is a challenging process to find and get a job that one wants. Having a lot of information about the job search methods can make it easier for you to find the job that you so desire .knowing how to judge the job offers you receive can make it more likely that you will end up with the best job possible. There are several areas where one can learn about job openings and offers. Such areas may include personal contacts, school career planning and placement offices, employers, classified ads, internet resources, professional association, labour unions, federal governments, community agency, private employment agencies and career consultants and internship.

METHODS OF FINDING JOBS
It’s hard to find a job and can take months if not weeks to find one.one can speed the process by using many methods as mentioned above to find job openings.
Personal contacts
These are those jobs that one finds when they talk to friends, family, neighbours acquaintances, former co-workers and others who know of an opening.one should be able to communicate with people to let them know that he is looking for a job because the people you know may be the most effective resources for you finding the job. To develop new contact one should join book clubs, charity society, student community, and professional organisations among others.
Placement offices and school career planning
College placement offices help students find jobs. Some students invite recruiters to use their facilities for interviews or career fairs. They also may have list of open jobs. Most also offer career counselling, career testing, and job search advice.
LABOR UNIONS
They provide several employment `services to members and potential members. These labour unions are responsible in ensuring that members and potential member’s rights are observed and preserved to prevent them from oppression by employers. Labour unions in Kenya where one can approach when they have issues concerning their jobs include the Kenya national union of teachers (KNUT) the Kenya national union of nurses (KNUN).

Community agencies
Many non-profit organisations, including religious institutions offer career development services and training mainly targeting the youths and women in the society, minorities such as the disabled and ex-convicts. Old people who do not have people or relatives to look after but are able and willing to work may also be a target since they are still productive.

Internet resources
In the modern world full of technology and advancements the internet plays a bigger role in the job search sector. Many people today find jobs on the internet in form of advertisements in websites. The internet provides a lot of information on jobs one needs and contacts one can use to reach the employer. The internet also provides other jobs such as online article writing, forex trading, online business and many others.one should also consider checking internet forums and online discussion groups to find jobs.

Applying for job
After finding the job that interests you what follows is the application. At this stage one requires to be prepared with his resume and certifications. Resumes and certifications give employers written evidence of their qualifications. Once you receive a job offer you must decide if you want the job. There are many issues to consider before accepting a job offer. One should consider the pay and salary, the working environment, the distance and several other factors.
